Before Sunrise

Just before dawn, the world holds its breath in hushed anticipation. The air is crisp and cool, with the faint scent of earth, pine, and morning dew. Gentle waves whisper across Lake Tahoe, their tops catching the light of the first sunbeams. Ten miles away, across the lake, Mount Tallac, covered in snow, welcomes the warmth of dawn. As I stand in the cold, alone on this January morning, it feels like a newfound marvel has been uncovered for me.

I created this image to communicate the striking size of Mount Tallac and neighboring mountains. Seen from afar they look rather small, but if you’ve climbed them and then skied down, as I have, then you know otherwise. To communicate the scale I used a telephoto lens to make Mount Tallac large in the image. To draw the eye to the mountain I used the dark clouds above and the dark water below to create a frame around the main subject. A feeling of depth is created by including visual layers in the image. These are the alternating bands of dark and light from the bottom of the image as the eye moves towards the mountain. Finally, the peninsula entering the photo from the left adds another visual layer. All this combines to create a dramatic image of Mount Tallac.

LIMITED EDITION OF 50

Limited edition refers to the maximum number of copies of the photograph that will ever
be printed. The most I will print of any photo is 50, with a caveat, and that is that I sell
all my prints in 8 X 10, 11 X 14 and 12x18 sizes without limitation. I believe that all people,
regardless of their income level, should have access to affordable art.

PRINT TYPES

Fujiflex Crystal Archive Acrylic Fine Art Prints

All our acrylic prints come with either a gloss or luster finish. Gloss provides amazing color depth and luminosity while luster approaches this level of brilliance but with less reflection if there is a strong side-light close to the artwork. Acrylic is the most brilliant finish for landscape photography and it approaches a 3-D appearance. Acrylic prints are ideal in locations with low natural light and good directional light from above. The acrylic print characteristics of archival quality, image brilliance, and durability makes it an excellent choice.

Chromalux Metal Fine Art Prints

Metal is an excellent finish for landscapes and approaches the brilliance of acrylic prints but with the ability to clean it with glass cleaner and a paper towel without any adverse effects. Metal is also much lighter than acrylic and, therefore is much easier to hang. All our metal prints come with either a gloss or luster finish. Gloss provides amazing color depth and luminosity while luster approaches this level of brilliance but with less reflection if there is a strong side-light close to the artwork. Metal prints are ideal in locations with low natural light and good directional light from above. The metal print characteristics of archival quality, image brilliance, and durability makes it an excellent all-around choice.
