Lighting Your Artwork

Now that you’ve invested in the artwork, how should you light it?

Lighting Your Artwork

Never put the artwork in direct sunlight. Even though the art has a very effective UV coating it is still susceptible to damaging infrared light.

  • Make sure that your images are not too close to a light source as that can result in heat damage.

  • Never use halogens or fluorescent lights as these can produce high levels of ultra-violet light.

  • I use LEDs with a color temperature of 3400K. This is a natural-looking warm temperature.

  • I recommend lighting them from above with the light source at a 30 degree angle to the artwork. This eliminates glare from the lights.
