Understanding Image Proportions in Photography
95% of the images on my website come in one of two proportions, 3:1 and 3:2. to clarify what that means take a look at the two images below.
A 3:1 panoramic image of Mount Everest
A panorama image with 3:1 proportions is three units wide for every one unit it is tall. The above image is a standard-size 24” X 72”.
A few of my images have 2:1 proportions
A 2:1 image is 2 units wide for every 1 unit tall
A 2:3 image is 3 units wide for every 2 units it is tall.
