Slowly throughout the summer the water in Donner Lake grows warmer and warmer. Then in October cold night air flows down from the peaks of the Sierra crest and covers the lake. The fog appears. In this image a breeze is carrying the mist up the slopes of Donner Peak just as the sun is rising. It moves slowly and there is time to think.
