It's called the monsoon here in Tahoe when moist summer air flows in off the Pacific and creates summer thunder storms. The basin can go years without the monsoon but when it happens keep your camera at the ready. As evening advances the thermals that drive the towering clouds cool and the clouds collapse and fade away. In this image the remnants of a cumulo nimbus cloud pick up the last color from the setting sun.
