PHOTOGRAPHING LAKE TAHOE
This blog is dedicated to helping you find the best locations to photograph on Lake Tahoe and to help you with tips and tricks so you can capture great images.
Find directions to and tips on how to photograph Bonsai Rock. This is the most iconic location at Lake Tahoe after Emerald Bay and with good reason as you can see. Just about every photographer that comes to Tahoe wants to shoot here and I’ve been asked for directions many times
Secret Cove is one of the most photographed and iconic locations at Lake Tahoe and for good reason. The shallow sandy bottom of the inlet is speckled with boulders of varying size. The perfectly shaped oval of the cove is framed by tall pines, and, in the distance across the lake, are the snow-covered peaks of the Sierra Crest.
Emerald Bay is THE classic Tahoe photo location and it’s so easy to capture as you can set up your camera for this spot right on the side of the road. What you see above in my image ALIGHT is the most popular location but there are many excellent compositions if you walk around.
The classic image of Lake Tahoe is exemplified in this image, STILLNESS, perfectly clear blue-green water with the rocks strikingly visible beneath the surface. The classic image also puts the subject of the clear water in context by including the shoreline, a tree or trees, and the mountains in the distance.
